HOW IT STARTED

The Origin Story

Country Crackle Candle started with a simple problem: I couldn't find a candle I actually trusted. As a mom, I wanted my home to smell wonderful — but I also wanted to know what was actually in the candles I was burning. In 2017, I started digging into what most candles are actually made of. I wasn't looking to be upset — I just wanted to know.

What I found: there was more to candle ingredients than I ever realized. I started paying closer attention to wax, first exploring soy and then discovering coconut-based wax blends. I also learned that some fragrance oils can contain phthalates and other ingredients I wasn't comfortable ignoring — certain phthalates are restricted in children's toys and child care products, but not in candles. That made me concerned about what my family and I were breathing in — and that wasn't something I could shrug off.

So I started looking for something better: cleaner, thoughtfully chosen ingredients, fragrance that actually smelled as good burning as it did in the jar, a candle that burns well and lasts, and didn't cost more than I could justify. I couldn't seem to find everything I was looking for in one candle, so I decided to make my own.

In 2018, I started Country Crackle Candle with one mission: create the Perfect Candle. One made from real, cleaner ingredients that are safer to use in the home. One with a scent that fills the whole room, not just the top layer that smells good in the store then fades quickly. One with a wood wick — because I love the crackle, and I think you will too. And one that lasts a long time and is priced for real people, not a luxury.

Today, that same idea is still at the heart of Country Crackle Candle: hand-poured wooden wick soy candles with beautiful fragrance, that cozy crackle, and the same attention to quality I was looking for from the very beginning.

What "The Perfect Candle" Actually Means

To me, a Perfect Candle isn't complicated — it just has to get everything right at once:

Thoughtfully chosen ingredients. Each candle starts with a quality soy-coconut based wax blend paired with carefully selected fragrance oils made without phthalates and other ingredients of concern. Our candles are also made without parabens or artificial dyes. Just ingredients chosen with care because these are the same candles I burn in my own home.

Beautiful fragrance made to be noticed. The Perfect Candle should smell just as good burning as it does when you first open the jar. I carefully choose and test each fragrance for a scent you can actually smell once the candle is lit and that continues to perform throughout the entire life of the candle from start to finish.

That cozy wooden wick crackle. This might be my favorite part. Every candle is made with a wooden wick for that soft, comforting crackle that makes lighting a candle feel like a little more than simply making the room smell good.

Handmade without the luxury price tag. The Perfect Candle should be something you can actually enjoy, not something that feels too expensive to burn. That's why our candles are hand-poured with care and made to give you beautiful fragrance, lasting enjoyment, and quality at a price that feels within reach.

It took time, and more than a few tries, to get every detail right. But, I genuinely believe we've created the Perfect Candle — and hundreds of five-star reviews seem to agree.

Today, thousands and thousands of candles later, every new batch is still handmade the same careful way: nothing goes out the door I wouldn't burn in my own house and that's why we make our candles the way we do.
